I do!  I’m just not blind to her faults.  I don’t see her as this beckon of virtue and morality. Just because I don’t worship at her feet doesn’t mean I don’t like her.

There’s things about Hermione that I don’t like. Just like there are things about almost all the characters that I don’t like. That’s just goes to show how real JKR made her characters.

As much as I like Hermione, there are times I want to shake her.

So I’ll explain what I meant by it:

Until Pottermore tells me other wise, I will believe that Hermione and Krum were in a serious relationship. 

Though it hurt my Romione love heart I will accept that. There is nothing wrong with Hermione having a boyfriend. Except for the fact that she hid it. She evaded telling Harry and Ron (mostly Ron) who she was going to the ball with.  While I fully understand her reasons; once she showed up at the ball with Krum her secret was out, yet she never fessed up to a relationship with Krum and called him a “pen pal” in later books. She down played it and that was her downfall. 

Of all the people Krum could have picked for the person he would miss the most he chose Hermione, not one of his Quidditch team mates; coach; friends, family, he chose Hermione. That right there is very telling as to the nature of their relationship; Krum invading Hermione to his home is another. (It took, what 3-4 years for Hermione to visit her best friends house) Krum becomes jealous and confronts Harry, asking if there was something going on between him and Hermione. If it was something casual, why would Krum feel the need to confront Harry?

Could Krum just be a jealous guy sizing up competition? Sure, but that’s not the felling you get from their conversation. Krum wants to make damn sure there is nothing going on. Sounds more like a jealous boyfriend to me. 

Here are my issues with the whole thing. It was clear that Hermione fancied Ron and would have preferred going to the ball with him over Krum. I’m sure she fancied Krum to some extent, nothing wrong with liking two guys at the same time. Hell we’ve all done it at one point. But Hermione played both of them. 

She was dating Krum, whom we can tell truly like her, while her heart was some where else. And she lied to Ron about her relationship with Krum. 

Why do I say she lied? Because she never fessed up to it. Ron was suspicious and gave Hermione opportunities to come out with the truth but she never did. Lies of omission are still lies.   

Maybe Hermione did it because she knew how Ron was. Maybe she was scared if Ron knew she was with Krum it would ruin the possibility of them getting together later. It was a very valid fear considering  that’s exactly what ended up happening.  I rejoiced! Not because I hate Hermione, but because I thought Hermione stringing along Krum while keeping Ron on the back burner was shady as fuck. I thought J.K. Rowling was going to let Hermione get away with it but it came back to bite her in the arse.

Ron suspected there was something going on but Hermione denied it and Ron chose to believe her. Only to find out, through his sister of all people, that he had been lied to. When he asked their mutual best friend if he thought it was true, all his friend could who was stammer as to not confirm it. Leaving Ron felling like he was the only one stupid enough to believe Hermione’s “just pen-pals” lies.

The torment Hermione went through in HBP, Ron when through in GoF and HBP, after finding out.  It may have happened in 4th year, but it was new information to Ron.  Ron could have dated Pansy Parkinson and I would have fucking shipped it. 

A lot of people say what Ron did was worse because he flaunted his relationship in Hermione’s face. I get that, I really do, but I don’t agree. Yes, Hermione had to deal with seeing the relationship. Ron and Lavenders were fact and happened in front of her face. Ron never got to see Hermione and Krum together. Hermione made sure of that. So now, their relationship consist of what Ron’s mind conjures up; that’ll be far worse then anything he would have seen with his own two eyes.
